Management Training Program, Operations Supervisor
About the role
When joining our Management Training Program, you will start as an Operations Supervisor. This 20-week program trains you on every aspect of our company and industry from a service center perspective at one of our 240 nationwide Service Centers. Willingness to relocate is key to this program.
Your training focuses on front-line operational supervision, covering safety, maintenance, and transportation procedures. You will observe supervisors during operational shifts (inbound, outbound, city, and DC) and spend time with ArcBest Account Managers to learn the dynamics of proactively managing accounts. After training, you will be placed in one of our more than 240 facilities across the continental U.S. as an Operations Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and control available resources to ensure timely, damage-free, and safe loading/unloading of freight on assigned shifts.
- Maintain appropriate load plans and ensure proper load balance for safe vehicle operation.
- Assign job tasks to workers according to unloading and loading schedules.
- Coordinate work assignments and monitor performance.
- Provide training, performance feedback, and disciplinary recommendations as needed.
- Ensure a clean, safe working environment for personnel and visiting customers.
- Foster safe handling, loading, unloading, and storage of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
- Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.

- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (required).
- General knowledge of freight, imports, exports, and proper freight handling techniques (preferred).
- Must be willing to relocate (required).

Work hours may vary depending on the Service Center location.
Pay
This is a salaried position paid biweekly.
