Management Systems Engineer - Manufacturing - Bethany, CT
About the role
Lead the development and maintenance of integrated management systems (ISO, IATF, environmental and safety standards)
Plan and conduct internal audits, track findings, and drive corrective actions
Host and manage external audits including customer and compliance reviews
Maintain and optimize quality documentation, procedures, and policies
Partner with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities and enhance efficiency
Conduct root cause analysis on non-conformances and implement preventative actions
Provide training and guidance on quality systems and processes across the organization
Manage OEM customer quality requirements, issues, and expectations
Analyze returned products and implement quality and design improvements
Prepare and manage PPAP and IMDS documentation for customers
Participate in customer and internal project meetings to address quality concerns
Lead FMEA, risk analysis, and other core quality tools initiatives
Analyze environmental compliance requests, reporting, and customer surveys
Mentor and support junior quality team members

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field
- 5-7+ years of experience in quality systems or management systems engineering
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
- Proven experience conducting audits and managing compliance programs
- Hands-on experience with PPAP, IMDS, and OEM quality requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability (root cause, corrective actions)
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools
- Excellent communication skills with ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; ERP/M3 experience is a plus
- Self-driven with strong organizational, decision-making, and multitasking skills
