Summary of Job Duties
The Mammography Technologist will be responsible for producing quality images and providing patient care in the UAMS Breast Center.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma, Graduate of a Radiological Technology Program, Registered with ARRT, Arkansas Radiologic Technologist License.
- PREFERRED Qualifications: RT(R)Mammography Registered
Responsibilities
- Operates specialized radiologic equipment to perform high quality breast imaging exams including mammography and breast ultrasounds.
- Maintains adequate level of supplies and keeps workspace clean.
- Communicates mammography exam procedures to patients and enlists patient cooperation in positioning for radiological examination.
- Provides patient education regarding mammography and breast health.
- Aids with records management and scheduling appointments.
- Obtains patient history and enters into Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Schedules exams and reviews previous records to determine correct studies are performed.
- Ensures exams are completed and images are in Picture Archiving and Communication (PACS) systems.
- Enrolls patients in BreastCare Program as appropriate.
- Maintains knowledge of breast procedures including ultrasound biopsy, stereotactic biopsy, MRI guided biopsy, and needle localizations through continuing education and professional development.
- Completes other duties as requested.
