Responsibilities
- Performing screening and diagnostic mammography procedures
- Operating mammography equipment
- Positioning patients for imaging
- Calculating exposure factors for mammograms
- Evaluating radiographs for quality
- Preparing supplies for mammography sessions
- Explaining mammography procedures to patients
- Charging for mammography services
- Assisting with training new staff and students
Requirements
- Certification in radiography and mammography
- Varying experience levels: Level I (newly certified), Level II (minimum two years’ experience and 200 exams), Level III (at least four years in the specialty)
- BLS certification
- Compliance with MQSA requirements, including continuing education
