Find your calling at Mercy! The Senior Mammography Technologist performs mammography imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires operating mammography and other imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high-quality imaging standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mammography and other imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images.
  • Serve as a lead when leadership is unavailable, acting as a resource for the team.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of staff.
  • Ensure patient safety and maintain high-quality imaging standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.
  • Recognize technical abnormalities in diagnostic images and make adjustments as needed.
  • Follow machine emergency procedures and radiation safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program with completed required clinical hours.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
  • Certification/Registration: ARRT(R)(M) and one of the following advanced registries: ARRT(BS) or ARDMS (BR).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of a variety of advanced procedures.
  • Knowledge of safe and proper machine operation, quality improvement programs, and protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
