Responsibilities

  • Reviews physician’s order to assure appropriateness of examination being requested.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors based upon breast tissue density, patient’s age, numerical compression scale, and technical equipment characteristics.
  • Performs a variety of clinical breast procedures with efficiency and high standards of quality; assures that the proper protocol is used for any given examination; evaluates images for diagnostic quality prior to submitting for interpretation.
  • Performs breast ultrasounds, as directed by Breast Radiologist.
  • Affixes to physician in set-up and performance of breast interventional procedures.
  • Recognizes report and document malfunctions of technical equipment.
  • Affords assistance in the training of new staff and student technologists.
  • Maintains physical work environment to be in compliance with regulatory certifying agencies.
  • Adheres to all infection control regulations.
  • Performs bone densitometry or automated breast ultrasound exams, where applicable.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Lead Technologist and Department Manager.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalency required.
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) in Mammography.
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) in Mammography or Certified by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD).
  • 5 years of relevant experience and proficient in Automated Breast Ultrasound.
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Breast Ultrasound.
  • Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates good decision making and judgment skills.
  • Able to function in fast paced environment.
  • Maintain required mammography continuing education as mandated by the Mammography Quality Standards Act.
  • Maintain required bone densitometry continuing education as mandated by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry.
  • CPR Certification.

Qualifications

Eligible for up to a $15,000 sign-on bonus.
