About the Role
Performs mammography imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role involves operating mammography and other imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high-quality imaging standards. The Mammography Technologist must effectively communicate with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.
Responsibilities
- Operate mammography and other imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images.
- Recognize technical abnormalities and adjust protocols as needed.
- Follow radiation safety and machine emergency procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain high-quality imaging standards and collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
Mammography Technologist
- Graduate of an accredited Imaging Program with required clinical hours completed.
- State licensure required.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry OR registry eligible (achieve registry within 6 months of eligibility).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
Advanced Mammography Technologist
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program with required clinical hours completed.
- 1 year of relevant experience OR graduate of a Bachelor degree program.
- State licensure required.
- ARRT (R)(M) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Skills
- Proficient knowledge in producing diagnostic images and recognizing technical abnormalities.
- Knowledge of safe and proper machine operation, including emergency procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of quality improvement programs (Advanced Mammography Technologist).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
