About the role

A Mammography Technician at Centerpoint Health-Georgetown plays a crucial role in providing high-quality care. This position requires a strong foundation in mammography procedures, patient education, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs mammography procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Reviews patient history and physician’s orders.
• Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Maintains patient condition and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• Assists physicians with interventional procedures such as fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
• Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Ensures compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accreditations.
• Positions patients and performs imaging procedures, biopsies, stereotactic, and special procedures.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures.
• Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
• Keeps current with BI-RADS and follows up on all patients.

Requirements

• Education: Associate's degree preferred; Graduate of a Program in Discipline required.
• Licenses: KY State Radiation Operator; ARRT certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Qualifications

• Experience: Must have relevant experience in mammography procedures.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
