Mammography Technical Assistant

About the Role

Our Mammo Technical Assistant provides scheduling services and exam instructions for patients and physician offices. Maintains patient flow in a productive, organized, and timely manner. Assures accurate clerical documentation of patient information and exam data. Provides safe and comfortable transportation for patients of all ages. Provides effective internal and external patient communication consistent with age and mental capacity.

Responsibilities

• Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable).
• Ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients (Revenue Management).
• Transports and prepares patients while maintaining patient comfort, dignity, and changing medical needs.
• Keeps patient history current by accurate data entry of exams and other patient history as defined by protocol manual and ongoing software training.
• Schedules and coordinates all events surrounding the successful completion of a patient exam.
• Coordinates inpatient imaging services with the imaging modality.
• Prepares next day’s schedule to ensure the patient is screened and prepped for the next day’s exam.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment and supplies to ensure CT technologists can perform their job efficiently and safely.
• Responds to patient care according to medical center's policies and procedures, including Code Blue Preparedness, Universal Precautions, Radiation Safety Support, and CPR.
• Monitors multi-modality worklist and coordinates on-call teams for after-hour exams.
• Covers other positions within medical imaging areas as appropriate, including modality assistance, file room responsibilities, and Radiologist liaison.
• Demonstrates ability to efficiently organize work and maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity.
• Demonstrates leadership skills, independent problem-solving, decision-making abilities, and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrates excellent professional interaction skills with patients and staff.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
• A minimum of one year of patient care experience, acceptance into a Radiology Program, or experience in a customer-related field is required.
• One year of experience in medical imaging is preferred.
