About the role

The Mammography / X-Ray Technologist at Northwest Specialty Hospital is a team-oriented healthcare provider responsible for serving as a medical imaging professional. This role involves assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating patients through radiologic imaging procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinically relevant information to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws and facility policies.
  • Adhere to accepted professional and ethical standards.
  • Project a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Perform radiologic imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions.
  • Minimize radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
  • Maintain production and quality of radiographic images by following established standards and procedures.
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Cooperate with facility healthcare personnel and comply with facility policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
  • Aware of standards and performs in accordance with them.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills and software programs for documentation activities and report generation.
  • Demonstrated competence in the specialty area(s) to be performed, including mammography certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • AHA BLS Certification.
