About the role
The Mammographer performs mammography procedures, including screening, diagnostic, and interventional studies, under a physician’s supervision.
Responsibilities
- Operates mammography equipment
- Ensures quality images
- Practices radiation safety
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Coordinates exams with staff
- Documents procedures accurately using department systems
- Follows regulatory and accreditation standards
- Maintains equipment, supplies, and adheres to infection control protocols
- Communicates effectively with patients, medical staff, and families to ensure quality care
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives
- Manages scheduling and inquiries courteously
Qualifications
- Graduated from a radiologic technology school with ARRT certification
- Mammography certification required within six months of eligibility
- Holds a valid state radiographer license
- CPR certification
Skills
- Proficiency with mammography equipment, PACS, HIS, RIS, and scheduling systems
- Strong attention to detail
- Communication skills
- Patient care skills
