About the Role
This position involves performing screening and diagnostic mammograms while ensuring patient care, safety, and adherence to regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Greets patients and provides instructions on procedures.
- Reviews patient information and obtains details regarding prior studies.
- Prepares patients for mammography procedures.
- Positions patient and adjusts equipment, selecting appropriate radiation exposure settings.
- Follows established standards for patient care and safety using radiation protection and shielding materials (FDA and ACR standards).
- Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms to radiologist’s specifications.
- Ensures equipment is in working order and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
- Processes paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
- Sends DICOM images to PACS for documentation and radiologist dictation.
- Maintains examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
- Answers phones and assists with diagnostic radiology exams as needed.
- Maintains mammography reporting system and releases information per ACR/FDA standards.
- Sends paper notifications to patients and providers per ACR/FPA standards.
- Adheres to policies related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality (HIPAA and OSHA).
- Knowledge of electronic medical chart reporting and records.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited radiologic technology course.
- Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Mammography Certification preferred at hire; must be obtained within one (1) year if not held at hire.
- Current state permit/license as a general diagnostic radiographer.
- Current CPR certification.
