Mammographer - Part-Time

About the Role

This position involves performing screening and diagnostic mammograms while ensuring patient care, safety, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and provides instructions on procedures.
• Reviews patient information and obtains details regarding prior studies.
• Prepares patients for mammography procedures.
• Positions patient and adjusts equipment, selecting appropriate radiation exposure settings.
• Follows established standards for patient care and safety using radiation protection and shielding materials (FDA and ACR standards).
• Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms to radiologist’s specifications.
• Ensures equipment is in working order and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
• Processes paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
• Sends DICOM images to PACS for documentation and radiologist dictation.
• Maintains examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
• Answers phones and assists with diagnostic radiology exams as needed.
• Maintains mammography reporting system and releases information per ACR/FDA standards.
• Sends paper notifications to patients and providers per ACR/FPA standards.
• Adheres to policies related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality (HIPAA and OSHA).
• Knowledge of electronic medical chart reporting and records.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited radiologic technology course.
• Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Mammography Certification preferred at hire; must be obtained within one (1) year if not held at hire.
• Current state permit/license as a general diagnostic radiographer.
• Current CPR certification.
