About the role

Be A Mentor pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.

As a Virtual Mentor, you will spend at least one hour per week with your mentee using Be A Mentor’s Virtual Mentoring Platform. While sessions may focus on homework help, they extend beyond tutoring to include goal setting, career exploration, and building resilience, social engagement, and a support network.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one attention to a youth mentee
• Assist with study skills and academic support
• Help with goal setting and career exploration
• Offer encouragement and build a trusting relationship

Requirements

• Must be over the age of 21
• Must be located in the United States (background check requirement)
• Commit to a minimum of one hour per week for a full year
• No commute required; mentoring is conducted virtually
