About the role
The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource. The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one attention
- Assist with study skills and academic support
- Help with goal setting
- Offer homework help
- Guide career exploration
- Encourage success
Requirements
- Be located in the United States
- Be over the age of 21
- Commit to at least one hour per week for a full year
