Major Gifts Officer, Foundation (Full-Time, Day Shift)

About the role

Contributes to the planning and implementation of Foundation activities to maximize private sector support. Formulates and implements strategies for securing major gifts. Researches, identifies, cultivates and evaluates specific prospective donors, and handles special fundraising assignments. Works with volunteers to initiate the most appropriate solicitation based on the needs of both the organization and the donor. Provides direction, leadership and staff support to volunteer activity and assists in the identification, education and orientation of key volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Develops an annual plan of goals and strategies, including precise and practical deadlines, to maximize private funding for Foundation priorities in concert with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Prepares written materials, including relevant case statements, proposals, information bulletins, articles and/or correspondence as it relates to gift opportunities.
  • Identifies needs of the organization that are most appropriate to present to major donors as specific giving opportunities.
  • Researches and identifies new major donor prospects being aware of persons who have experience with the organization/Foundation and persons who have sufficient means to obtain recognition.
  • Creates and continually builds upon a core list of prospective donors and rigorously follows-up leads to individual, corporate or Foundation support for special projects of the Ministry.
  • Maintains prospect and donor database as it relates to Major Gift work.
  • Arranges appropriate tours, cultivation events, meetings and/or introductions of major donors, major donor prospects and staff/administration.
  • Ensures appropriate and adequate acknowledgment and recognition of all major gifts and volunteer contributions.
  • Oversees support staff and coordinates with them on individually preparing appropriate staff and volunteers for each visit and the generation of timely and thorough follow-up correspondence and call reports.
  • Implements and manages web-based giving efforts.

Requirements

  • Education and Work Experience: Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required Bachelor's Degree: Preferred Three years' fundraising experience: Required

Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
