About the role
The Major Gift Officer (MGO) plays a crucial role in raising approximately $30 million annually for the community in the Lehigh Valley through identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospective donors with the capacity to join the Tocqueville Society.
Responsibilities
- Identify, qualify, and cultivate prospective donors with the capacity to contribute to the Tocqueville Society.
- Solicit and steward individual donors within an assigned portfolio of 125+ current and prospective major donors.
- Engage in community outreach and prospect visits to build relationships with potential donors.
Requirements
- 5-plus years of professional work experience in major gifts solicitation, donor stewardship, fund-raising, direct appeals, high net-worth individual sales, or a related bachelor’s degree in lieu of some work experience.
- Comfort and proficiency with presentation and compelling communication skills.
- Experience in personal relationship building and socializing professionally in various settings.
- Familiarity with database software and customer service/donor management software.
- A strong understanding of and commitment to United Way's vision and purpose.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance required for staff members who drive on UWGLV business.
Skills
- Comfort and proficiency with presentation and compelling communication skills both one-on-one and with groups.
- Proven experience in personal relationship building and socializing professionally in both intimate settings and at larger social events.
- Familiarity with database software and customer service/donor management software.
- Understanding of and commitment to the vision and purpose of United Way.
Pay
$75,000 - $85,000 per year
Schedule
This position is based in the UWGLV office in Allentown, PA and requires being present in the office or at in-person meetings/events for at least 60% of the schedule.
