Major Gifts Manager
Marklund is a nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational, and therapy services to infants, children, teens, and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs. With two residential locations in Geneva and Elgin, Marklund serves nearly 178 residents and offers multi-needs and life-skills programs through the Marklund Day School and Community Day Services.
About the role
The Major Gifts Manager will manage a working portfolio of individuals, partner closely with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Donor Engagement, and help shape the systems, tools, and strategies that will define Marklund's next chapter of philanthropic growth. You will join a 9-person development team raising $6.7M annually.
Responsibilities
- Manage a donor portfolio of approximately 100-150 donors, including Leadership Giving Circle members and emerging major gifts prospects.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts of $15,000 and above, strengthening and growing the LGC Inner Circle program.
- Use Raiser’s Edge NXT for portfolio management, reporting, and donor strategy documentation.
- Work closely with the CDO and Director of Donor Engagement to ensure a seamless donor experience from acquisition through stewardship.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2-5 years of major gift experience
- Ability to manage external relationships with donors, prospects, board members, and other professionals
- Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge NXT and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Ability to represent the disability and nonprofit field with credibility and communicate program impact clearly to donors and community stakeholders
Pay
Starting salary: $70,000–$80,000 based on qualifications and experience.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
