Position Summary

Provides cultivation of fundraising efforts, specifically focusing on current and potential donors of $1,000+. This position is designed to cultivate strong relationships with current major donor portfolio, identify potential new major donors for Iris, and execute an annual event for these donors. This position is designed to grow the fundraising efforts in tandem with the Donor & Government Relations Director, CEO, senior leadership positions, Committee and Board Members.

Job Description

  • Essential Functions:

    • In collaboration with the Donor & Government Relations Director, develop and implement development plan targeting major donors with clear objectives, goals, targets audiences, and timelines for Iris Family Support Center.
    • Create a focus on prospect and donor research and be accountable for growth in the prospect pool for relationship cultivation using online donor search databases and community connections.
    • Partner with members of the Board of Directors to set up meetings with potential donors in their personal/professional networks.
    • Maintain a portfolio of top donors and prospects to support fundraising goals. Approach qualified donors to request major gifts, effectively communicating the impact the specific gift will have on Iris’s mission.
    • Implement and record the donor cultivation process, keeping updated records of all communication and donor information/maintenance of the donor database.
    • Follow donor stewardship matrix to ensure donors are thanked in a timely manner after each gift and maintain a sense of gratitude throughout the year with different touch points.
    • Ensure that customized donor data is accurately imported, exported, and edited in a variety of digital platforms and tools.
    • Contribute to the organization’s strategic plan and direction in collaboration with the Donor & Government Relations Director, as directed.
    • Support the Department of Philanthropy with special fundraising events.
  • Scorecard:

    • Meet monthly interaction goals for major donor solicitations and stewardship.
    • Meet monthly revenue targets.
    • Participate in a minimum of one (1) community event each month, either internal or external.
    • Participate in a minimum of one (1) monthly training opportunity and provide a summary to the team.
    • Other measures as needed on a month-to-month basis, put forth by the Donor & Government Relations Director and communicated in advance to the Major Gifts Manager.
  • Other Duties:

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Core Competencies, Skills And Experience)

  • Proven track record of successfully soliciting major gifts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Personal accountability, strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to tell a compelling story consistent with the brand identity, public relations strategy, and development plan
  • Extensive knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office Suite), ability to implement donor database software
  • Ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to be in the community, at least 80% of the time cultivating relationships with current donors and prospective donors on behalf of Iris Family Support Center
  • Requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets or bend and stoop, as necessary
  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift office supplies, materials, and equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to drive, as well as use dependable transportation
  • Expected Hours of Work: Individual to be accessible at the times that donors are available, predominately normal working hours, but there are several events that occur in the evenings and on weekends. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, the employee must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising, Public Relations, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in a non-profit environment with major responsibilities in fundraising, donor relations, personal solicitations, and strategic fund development planning

Preferred Education

  • 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Track record in solicitating and receiving funding from individuals, corporations, and/or foundations

Certification

  • Track record in solicitating and receiving funding from individuals, corporations, and/or foundations
