About the role

Travelers Investigative Services provides industry-first resources designed to detect and deter fraudulent claims. Using some of the most comprehensive technology available, we have the abilities and expertise to identify potential risks and combat fraudulent practices. As an SIU Specialized Investigator, you will analyze highly complex technical information with minimum oversight to identify major case or underwriting investigations with regional and national implications with potential for litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively analyze highly technical information from multiple sources including leveraging the analytics team, explore new approaches and sources of information, and make key decisions to drive cases to resolution with minimum oversight.
  • Apply the techniques of critical thinking to prioritize and develop investigations that have complex allegations and/or significantly financial impact to multiple claims spanning across multiple lines of business and potentially across several states.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to business partners by maintaining contact, providing information, conducting technical training, and identifying trends, through the life cycle of an investigation.
  • Establish and maintain liaison network with public officials, law enforcement officers and others to obtain assistance in conducting investigations.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert, including conducting case presentations, to internal and external business partners.
  • Apply rules of evidence; recognize evidence and determine its value to specific claim, evidence collection and interpretation.
  • Apply Local, State and Federal statutes to ensure investigations are carried out within the requirements of applicable law and local office expectations.
  • Adapt to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and digital tool rollouts, particularly in the areas of AI while maintaining productivity and service quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of investigative experience or two years insurance claim or underwriting or legal related experience.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED (minimum).
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to use and interpret information and facts as well as apply critical techniques to the investigative process.
  • Influence and conflict management skills to deal with crisis situations.
  • Ability to work independently, while making decisions to successfully pursue investigations through establishing significant facts while preserving material that leads to the resolution of the investigation.
  • Working level knowledge of insurance and claim operations, Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, and Workers Compensation insurance products.

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,600.00 - $141,200.00. The actual salary will be determined by factors including scope, complexity, location, skills, education, training, credentials, and experience. Employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
