Maintenance Worker, Water Distribution

Responsibilities

• Perform various state mandated inspections including BIT (Biennial Inspection of Terminal required by California Highway Patrol), Smog Check II, and Smoke Opacity Test.
• Examine and locate mechanical defects in a wide variety of road and construction diesel, compressed natural gas and gasoline powered equipment to identify repair needs and the methods of taking corrective action.
• Participate in the overhaul, tune-up and repair work of a routine nature on medium and heavy trucks, construction equipment, busses and emergency generators.
• Prepares simple records such as completing work orders, work time and material records.
• Understand and follow oral instructions and written directives such as factory service bulletins, equipment manuals and memorandums.

Requirements

• The desired candidate will have at least four ASE medium and heavy duty truck certifications.
• Knowledge of Mitchell Truck and Mitchell on Demand information systems.
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License Class A or Class B.

Qualifications

• Two years of technical experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledges and abilities.
• Education or training that can be directly related to the knowledge and ability requirements may be substituted for up to one year of technical experience at the rate of three semester units for one month of experience and one hour of job related training for one hour of experience.

Skills

• Ability To Diagnose and repair hydraulic and air brake systems.
• Repair and overhaul light duty, heavy gasoline and diesel-driven powered equipment, busses and emergency generators with a minimum of supervision.
• Frequently lift and carry heavy objects.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of work.

Additional Information
