Core Responsibilities
- Maintain exterior areas including but not limited to snow & ice removal & spring and fall cleanup as needed.
- Inspect and report on fire extinguishers, emergency and exit lighting/signage and alarm system issues.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, doors, windows and fixtures).
- Support preventative maintenance programs for building systems.
- Assist with set up and break down of classrooms, offices and program areas.
- Aid in furniture moves and equipment installation.
- Support School staff as needed to maintain sanitary conditions.
- Complete work orders in a timely manner to maintain safe learning environments.
- Maintain all required documentation, ensuring daily work is entered and accounted for in the maintenance Worx Hub application.
- Work in occupied environments with awareness of students with behavioral needs and follow school specific protocols.
- Communicate with School administration, Facility leadership, teachers and program staff as appropriate and provide updates as needed.
- Prioritize work orders across the schools.
- Act as the point of contact for day-to-day building issues at Armory and Chadwicks schools.
- Perform general grounds and building cleaning operations, as needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance as directed.
- Participate in Agency activities that may include meetings, trainings and committees.
- Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees.
- Assimilate new employees to the Agency’s culture, values and mission.
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in building maintenance, facilities or related field preferred.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted.
- Travel is required.
- Must have and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License.
