Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper (Part time/Weekends)
About the role
Performs custodial, maintenance, and grounds-keeping tasks that ensure the care and upkeep of school property. Training and introductory period may include weekday hours in addition to some possible weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Primary function is the completion of assigned work orders from the school’s work order system Operations Hero.
- Act as a campus presence during events and weekend activities.
- Complete work tickets by making repairs within the scope of abilities.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment used.
- Perform grounds maintenance activities, including cutting, mowing, weeding, edging, blowing, planting foliage, and raking.
- Perform shrubbery and tree maintenance activities, including pruning limbs, shaping hedges, and cutting branches.
- Perform structural maintenance activities, including painting, moving furniture, cleaning, and making repairs.
- Perform cleanup of grounds and facilities, including picking up litter, disposing of waste and debris, and cleaning surfaces.
- Assist with custodial duties and building maintenance and repairs as required.
- Operate various electric, gas, and powered tools and equipment, such as sprayers, mowers, blowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, chain saws, and Gators.
- Perform setups for campus-wide activities as indicated on Event Setup requests.
- Daily moving of trash, garbage containers, and recycle containers as required.
- Other related job responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Advanced education is preferred, as well as previously related experience.
- Ability to operate standard custodial and groundskeeping equipment.
- Ability to get SLED approved and operate a motor vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- General handyman experience or a specialty in either electric, HVAC, plumbing, or carpentry.
