Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper (Part time/Weekends)

About the role

Performs custodial, maintenance, and grounds-keeping tasks that ensure the care and upkeep of school property. Training and introductory period may include weekday hours in addition to some possible weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Primary function is the completion of assigned work orders from the school’s work order system Operations Hero.
• Act as a campus presence during events and weekend activities.
• Complete work tickets by making repairs within the scope of abilities.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment used.
• Perform grounds maintenance activities, including cutting, mowing, weeding, edging, blowing, planting foliage, and raking.
• Perform shrubbery and tree maintenance activities, including pruning limbs, shaping hedges, and cutting branches.
• Perform structural maintenance activities, including painting, moving furniture, cleaning, and making repairs.
• Perform cleanup of grounds and facilities, including picking up litter, disposing of waste and debris, and cleaning surfaces.
• Assist with custodial duties and building maintenance and repairs as required.
• Operate various electric, gas, and powered tools and equipment, such as sprayers, mowers, blowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, chain saws, and Gators.
• Perform setups for campus-wide activities as indicated on Event Setup requests.
• Daily moving of trash, garbage containers, and recycle containers as required.
• Other related job responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Advanced education is preferred, as well as previously related experience.
• Ability to operate standard custodial and groundskeeping equipment.
• Ability to get SLED approved and operate a motor vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

• General handyman experience or a specialty in either electric, HVAC, plumbing, or carpentry.
