Maintenance Worker (Environmental Engineering)

About the role

Position located in Environmental Engineering, Chesterfield County. Part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) offering career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience. Position is open until filled; first review to begin October 5, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of county stormwater facilities including ditch cleaning, downed tree removal, grass and brush cutting in county maintained drainage easements.
• Perform other work as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Knowledge of drainage maintenance operations and equipment usage/operation to include hydroseeder, brush chipper, chain saw, tamper, weed trimmer, and hand tools.
• Ability to swim preferred.
• Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
