Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
- Completion of a formal electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent training is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an electrician, with demonstrated ability to perform general maintenance tasks.
- Valid electrician's license, per state and local requirements.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. CDL preferred or must be willing to obtain.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, including local electrical codes, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and building plans.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and contractors.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.
Performance Duties
- Electrical Maintenance & Repair:
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, including lighting, wiring, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.
- Ensure electrical systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety codes.
- Upgrade and retrofit electrical systems as needed to meet the demands of the school's operations.
- General Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on school facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure the proper operation of all building systems.
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of school grounds, including walkways, fences, and playground equipment.
- Operate and maintain various maintenance equipment, including power tools, hand tools, and vehicles.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Identify and report safety hazards in school buildings and work to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure that maintenance activities do not disrupt the educational environment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, work orders, and equipment maintenance schedules.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Respond to maintenance requests from school administrators, teachers, and other staff in a timely manner.
- Cookordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or installations as required.
- Provide assistance during emergencies, including electrical failures, plumbing leaks, or HVAC breakdowns.
- Participate in planning for facility improvements and capital projects.
- General:
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as expected of all staff.
- Attends staff meetings as required.
- Discharges all responsibilities and fulfills all obligations as specified in contract, policies and guidelines of the Floyd County School Board.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor or the superintendent.
