About the Role
Maintenance is responsible for the regular upkeep and preventive repairs of all Arc-owned or leased facilities. Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, you will ensure compliance with regulatory, fire, OSHA, and health safety requirements while adhering to policies established by The Arc Eastern Connecticut Board of Directors.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (40 hours per week)

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of two years’ experience in maintenance or related trades
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance for the duration of employment
- Basic competency in English (verbal and written)
- Broad-based experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, landscaping, appliance repair, snow removal, roofing, and flooring
- Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
- Ability to participate in lifts, transfers, and behavioral or physical interventions when necessary
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth monthly inspections of residential facilities and submit progress reports to the supervisor
- Clean gutters as needed
- Assist with landscaping
- Install and repair appliances
- Assemble and move furniture
- Perform general plumbing, electrical, and carpentry (unlicensed work)
- Schedule licensed personnel as necessary
- Fix and replace ceiling tiles
- Patch roofs as needed
- Install and repair closet doors
- Repair broken windows and doors
- Repair and install internal and external lighting
- Perform interior and exterior maintenance
- Apply stain to decking as needed
- Perform snow removal, sanding, and shoveling at designated facilities during inclement weather
- Ensure walkways are clear and free of ice hazards
- Meet with the Fire Marshal for annual home inspections
- Comply with OSHA safety regulations
- Use a personal vehicle as necessary and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance
- Demonstrate a positive work ethic and work with limited supervision
- Keep the supervisor informed about ongoing projects
- Advocate for and protect participants’ rights in accordance with Arc policies
- Maintain professionalism when interacting with participants, staff, families, and the public
- Work cooperatively with all departments
- Adhere to attendance policies
Required Trainings
Participate in all DDS and The Arc Eastern CT trainings as required by policy.
