Maintenance Worker

Duties & Responsibilities

• Daily house run to assess condition of the facility relative to agency standards and determine areas of concern.
• Ongoing maintenance of plumbing, electricity, heating and wiring.
• Responsible for emergency and minor repairs to be completed in a timely fashion.
• Responsible for responding to resident work orders in a timely fashion.
• Ensures apartment/living quarters are well maintained and clean.
• Performs carpentry work as needed.
• Paints and maintains facility, both inside and out.
• Maintains inventory and prepares purchase orders for maintenance and housekeeping supplies in a timely fashion.
• Completes housekeeping tasks and cleaning of facility at direction of supervisor.
• Trains new maintenance & housekeeping staff.
• Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings.
• Attends all required in-service training seminars.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
• Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a New York City building, preferably, in a residential social service setting.
• Valid NYC Fire Department Certificate of Fitness.
• Valid NYS Driver's License highly preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs).
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
• Position requires on call availability.
