Maintenance Worker

Responsibilities
- Responsible to the Director for the management and upkeep of the physical plant. Note: Federal or State Contracting Authority and/or Executive Management may modify operating standards, including staffing requirements and qualifications.
- Maintains and Repairs: Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
- Painting; building, repairing, and/or installing counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, etc.
- Installing glass; replacing damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, and wall coverings.
- Installing window shades, blinds, curtain rods, wall fans, and door locks.
- If licensed, includes electrical and mechanical system upkeep and repairs. For licensed work, coordinates with local certified vendors.
- Conducts Regular Landscaping Details and Maintenance of Grounds: Includes mowing, trimming, raking, upkeep of lawn sprinklers, trees, flowers, shrubs, etc.
- Conducts Regular Preventive Maintenance: Ensures safety, operation, and aesthetics of the facility; notifies supervisor or Director of repairs needing additional attention; maintains records of routine maintenance.
- Complies with all Applicable OSHA Regulations: Ensures all maintenance work involving tools, solvents, paints, or chemicals adheres to safety guidelines. Work on or around electricity must comply with current government safety guidelines, permits, and licensing.
- Maintains Working Knowledge of all Procedures and Policies: Includes the Physical Plant Manual, Chapters 3-8 of the Facilities Operations Manual, Emergency Drills, Life Safety, Facility Sanitation, and Unusual Occurrence Procedures.
- Work Schedule: Works required shifts and hours; attends and participates in all required appointments/meetings on-site, within the community, in the court system, or at other business-related locations.

Requirements
- Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; at least two years of paid general maintenance experience preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Certifications and Licenses: Obtain CPR, First Aid Certification, and Defensive Driving Certification during initial orientation; retain certifications throughout employment. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no restrictions that would prevent job duties.
- Computer Skills/Office Equipment/General Maintenance: Proficient knowledge of the most current version of Windows or XP operating systems, Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel. Understanding of basic PC concepts (files, file paths, copying, pasting, deleting, and moving files) is preferred. Familiarity with common office machinery such as calculators, telephones, fax machines, and copiers.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass criminal background checks.
- Ability to travel overnight when required.
- Must have reliable transportation; use of personal vehicle may be required for travel to meetings and businesses.
- Other Skills: Within the Introductory Period, must become proficient with program-specific equipment such as Security and Fire Systems. Required to become proficient with future equipment applications as introduced.

Work Environment
- Noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate, except during life safety alarms (sounded during monthly emergency drills and periodic systems inspections).
- Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and occasional risk of electrical shock.
Pay
$22.84 per hour
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week. 1st Shift with weekends and flexible schedule available.
