Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Aids in the installation of new equipment.
Aids personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
Fulfills preventative maintenance schedule.
Performs machine repair and installation tasks such as replacing motors, rebuilding gearboxes, running threaded piping, running weld piping, overhauling pumps, replacing packing shaft seals on cookers and pumps, welding, and using cutting torches.
Conducts daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.
Diagnoses and replaces equipment parts with minimal direction.
Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
Uses assigned personal protective equipment and required safety equipment; familiarizes with and adheres to all Company safety rules and regulations.
Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may serve on Safety Committee.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

2 years of experience with rendering or similar industrial-type equipment.
Experience in welding and piping.
Vocational school training preferred.
Experience in operating a forklift preferred.
Basic knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operations.
Welding proficiency in MIG and Stick as well as vertical and overhead preferred.
Ability to diagnose and repair control circuits and VFD installation preferred.
General mechanical aptitude; capable of diagnosing and repairing problems with motors and other equipment.

Physical Demands

Frequently required to push, pull, move, or lift up to 100 lbs.
Frequently required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
May be asked to travel to other plants for construction projects.
May need to work nights and weekends; available "on call" as needed.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in a rendering facility which requires tolerance for wet and/or slippery floors and high heat or cold temperatures.
