Duties and Requirements
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks on facilities, including shelters, offices, and other assigned areas.
- Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and repairing fixtures.
- Repair and maintain electrical systems, including replacing light bulbs, repairing outlets, and troubleshooting electrical issues.
- Repair and maintain HVAC systems, including cleaning filters, inspecting components, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Perform carpentry work, such as repairing doors, windows, walls, and other structural elements.
- Assemble and disassemble furniture, equipment, and temporary structures.
- Perform painting, patching, and other cosmetic repairs to maintain a clean and presentable environment.
- Maintain and repair equipment, including generators, pumps, and other machinery, ensuring they are in safe and working condition.
- Perform grounds maintenance tasks, such as clearing debris, removing fallen branches, and ensuring safe access to facilities.
- Respond to maintenance requests and address issues promptly and effectively.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Education, Certifications, Licenses, and Experience
- Must possess prior experience as a maintenance worker.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including potentially hazardous conditions associated with hurricane aftermath.
- Forklift Operator certification preferred.
- Be prepared to deploy to disaster-affected areas, often with short notice.
Work Environment
- Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
- Physical Requirements:
- Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach.
- Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies.
- Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
Qualifications
