About the role

The Wheaton 121 Apartments in Wheaton, IL is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Technician. Applicants must provide their own tools, have transportation for replacement parts and supplies, and possess the necessary certifications.

Responsibilities

• Address resident service and maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Communicate with residents on pending items or the status of service requests to ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain a safe and secure living environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
• Ensure the physical property is maintained and correct unsafe conditions immediately.
• Keep accurate records regarding preventive maintenance, service requests, expenditures, apartment make-ready status, work in progress, etc.
• Complete make-ready repairs and services on schedule.
• Rake, sweep, shovel, and salt property grounds as needed.
• Change locks and keys.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in property maintenance or equivalent maintenance-related fieldwork.
• Ability to interact professionally and efficiently with prospects, residents, staff, and management.
• Hands-on experience within basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, heating and air conditioning systems (heat pump experience a plus), swimming pools, landscaping, and cleaning.
• Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT) preferred.
• Must be HVAC certified and CPO certified preferred.
• Certified to work with refrigerants (CFC/EPA approved certification).
• Must be familiar with and adhere to all OSHA guidelines to ensure the protection of themselves and their team.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and stairs, walk between buildings and on roofs, stoop, kneel, and bend.
• Must be willing to obtain the CAMT if requested by management.
• Must have the ability to travel to pick up replacement parts and supplies from vendors.
• Must have the ability to work 40+ hours a week, evenings, weekends, and on-call hours as circumstances warrant.

Qualifications

• Physical requirements include being able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and stairs, walk between buildings and on roofs, stoop, kneel, and bend as well as have hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Familiarity with and adherence to all OSHA guidelines to ensure the protection of themselves and their team.

Pay

Hourly Pay Range: $22-$25.

Schedule

Full-time, 40+ hours a week, evenings, weekends, and on-call hours are required as circumstances warrant.
