Maintenance Technician (Union)- 26-51

Union position located at all Sanilac County CMH sites. Current work hours: 40 hrs/wk. Flexible schedule to ensure coverage, including outside normal hours when needed.

Pay

$17.86–$20.81 per hour. If annualized: $37,156.43–$43,276.31.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with normal building maintenance operations at all facility sites, including cleaning vents, repairing walls, and processing work orders in AutoTask.
  • During winter months, remove snow from sidewalks and parking lots at all facility sites and salt walkways and parking lots (flexible hours outside normal hours when needed).
  • Ensure building and grounds maintenance equipment are in good operating condition.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production and maintenance systems to achieve optimum quality; verify implementation of improvements.
  • Implement Agency and program safety and health policies and practices.
  • Perform industrial machine maintenance duties as needed.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks as needed; deliver incoming shipments to appropriate building/staff person.
  • Adjust building temperatures through thermostats and Trane Tracker controls.
  • Prepare requisitions for purchases.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date Safety Data Sheets.
  • Act as a backup for other Tech Assistants.
  • Use internet on a cell phone for work purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Tech Assistant 1

  • Perform minor electrical repairs and installation, including any maintenance needed in this area.
  • Assist with maintaining all Agency vehicles and program equipment (forklifts, etc.) as needed.

Maintenance Tech Assistant 2

  • Assist janitorial crew with guidance and training.
  • Order janitorial supplies to meet the needs of the agency.
  • Create and update weekly janitorial schedules through Microsoft Teams.
  • Maintain janitorial supply inventory and reorder as needed.
  • Ensure janitorial areas are neat and organized in appearance.
  • Provide backup coverage for cutting lawns, replacing and maintaining mulch, plants, flowers, trees, and shrubbery; perform weed control to maintain the outward appearance of buildings, including applying commercial pesticide applications.
  • Paint walls in all facilities, including mudding and small repairs to walls as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five years verifiable experience in maintenance and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certificate.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Basic mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Basic reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of email and general operation of computers.

Skills

Maintenance/Mechanical Skills

  • Both positions: basic plumbing, basic carpentry, operating and maintaining snow removal equipment, forklifts, and landscaping equipment.
  • Maintenance Tech Assistant 1: electrical, minor vehicle repairs, minor HVAC maintenance, and read blueprints.
  • Maintenance Tech Assistant 2: painting, landscaping, cement work, and janitorial.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift no less than 50 pounds as needed.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • May be required to travel to other buildings.
  • Exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Exposed to chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and cleaning materials.

Benefits

Eligibility begins the first of the month following hire date. Must work over 30 hours per week to be eligible for medical and café benefits. Paid time off accruals are based on hours worked.
