Maintenance Technician Specialist, Auto Repair

Responsibilities

• Perform complex mechanical work on company vehicles and special equipment, including but not limited to:
  • Internal combustion, diesel, and natural‑gas‑powered engines
  • Heavy operating equipment
  • Generators and electric motors
  • CNG vehicles and equipment
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Refueling/compressor stations (commercial and home units)
  • Electronic safety control systems, fuel dispensers, and sequential and priority panels
• Mentor and provide guidance to fleet mechanics in CNG vehicle conversion, installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Monitor, track, and order parts and supplies to ensure materials needed for repairs and maintenance are available and jobs are completed accurately and timely.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment by keeping the garage and service bay areas clean and free of debris or hazards.
• Maintain and/or prepare reports and records, including:
  • Maintenance records, work orders, and reports
  • Engine/equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Pressure readings
  • Material and supply orders
  • Asset inspections
  • Expense reports
  • Mileage reports
  • Time sheets
• Schedule appointments for maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations as needed.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education Requirements: High School Diploma required.
• Experience:
  • Use and function of hand and power tools and applicable equipment.
  • Automotive engine repair.
  • Compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle conversion.
  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of CNG refueling equipment.
  • Electronics.
  • Company and governmental operating/safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining job schedules and priorities.
  • Basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, percentages) and conversion of natural‑gas volumes to liquid capacities.
  • Reading and interpreting governmental codes and standards, work orders, blueprints, schematics, gauges, equipment specifications, warranties, wiring diagrams, and vehicle/equipment manuals.
  • Fluent reading and writing in English.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • CDL driver’s license (Hazmat preferred)
  • State Alternative Fuel Technician License (CNG)
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) L1, L2, L3, and Master Certification A1‑A9 (maintained)
  • Compressor Level 1 Maintenance License
  • State Alternative Fuel Technician License (EV)
  • Vocational/Technical school training or apprenticeship in auto repair

Additional Requirements

• Physical ability to lift, push, pull, or move objects:
  • Up to 10 lb – 20‑25 times per day
  • Up to 20 lb – 3‑5 times per day
  • Up to 30 lb – 3‑5 times per day
  • Up to 40 lb – 3‑5 times per day
  • Over 50 lb – 3‑5 times per day
• Ability to drive for extended periods.
• Immediate response to emergency situations to prevent injury.
• Capability to operate required tools and equipment.
• Effective communication via car telephone and company radio.
• Visual acuity sufficient to perform job duties.
• Availability for on‑call rotation outside normal operating hours.
• Willingness to travel to outlying areas for maintenance and repair needs.
