Maintenance Technician – Shelter
Join EDEN as a Full-Time Maintenance Technician at our Shelter and play a vital role in keeping the facility safe, functional, and ready to serve women and families experiencing homelessness. Your work will directly impact people's lives every day through preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and preparing rooms for new residents.

Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, flooring, doors, locks, windows, and other building systems.
- Complete preventive maintenance to keep the facility operating safely and efficiently.
- Prepare resident rooms for new families through rapid room turnovers, including painting, patching walls, replacing fixtures, repairing damages, changing locks, and ensuring rooms are clean and move-in ready.
- Maintain exterior grounds through seasonal upkeep, snow removal, landscaping, and litter removal.
- Inspect the facility to identify maintenance or safety concerns before they become larger problems.
- Work closely with shelter staff to prioritize maintenance requests and support daily shelter operations.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations, including water leaks, utility outages, and other urgent building issues.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors while maintaining accurate work order documentation.
Schedule
Your regular schedule will be Monday through Friday, with participation in an on-call rotation to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Requirements
- Trade or technical school training preferred, along with at least 3 years of maintenance or mechanical experience, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, painting, flooring, locks, doors, windows, and general building systems.
- Ability to independently diagnose problems and complete repairs efficiently.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment where resident safety comes first.
- Adequate set of personal hand tools.
- Valid Ohio driver's license with a good driving record.
- Operable vehicle and proof of insurance.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
HVAC certification is a plus but not required.
