Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of maintenance and repairs on City buildings and equipment, including electrical, heating and A/C, carpentry, demolitions, renovations, plumbing, painting, mechanical, roof repair, floor repair, minor concrete repair, vehicle/truck/equipment repair, cleaning, and street maintenance
- Conducts detailed inspections of buildings and equipment as required
- Operates a variety of heavy and specialized equipment after proper training
- Assists with special events and projects as needed
- Provides on-call departmental emergency coverage after normal working hours
- Obtains a Commercial Driver’s License within 1 year of hire date
- Moves and sets up furniture, pictures, etc. as needed and assigned
- Cleans interior and exterior of trucks
- Performs janitorial duties, recycling tasks, and other manual tasks as required
- Fills in for other positions within the Public Works department
- Performs other related duties as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent with the ability to learn and utilize new skills in technical work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience
- Must possess or be able to obtain by employment a valid SC Driver’s License
