Responsibilities

The general function of this role is to perform various mechanical and maintenance duties necessary to keep the facility and all equipment functional and operating safely and in accordance with state and federal Guidelines And Established Maintenance Standards.

  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules to keep building and machinery in working condition following the user guide manuals for machinery.
  • Inspect and test prevention equipment such as smoke alarms, fire alarms, smoke/fire dampers, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems and related devices and equipment.
  • Responsible for grounds maintenance tasks such as lawn care, trimming bushes and trees, landscaping, and other related tasks.
  • Assist with snow removal in collaboration with lead maintenance technician.
  • Assist maintaining building equipment such as heating and ventilation, air compressors, kitchen appliances, laundry equipment, plumbing systems, water heaters, water softeners, etc.
  • Paint and plaster work building wide.
  • Resident room inspection following discharge and room set up for admission (touch up paint, call light system, bed changes, air vents, etc.).
  • Repair furniture (nightstands, beds, lift recliners, wheelchairs, walkers, etc.).
  • Make minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs.
  • Handle all incoming and outgoing freight (food and nursing supplies) and stock heavy nursing supplies on units.
  • Complete work orders and scheduled preventative maintenance listed in the Akita work order system.
  • Check system daily for tasks that require completion and perform daily facility wide rounds checking for safety compliance, cooling and heating function, water temperatures, etc., and documenting results.

Other job duties include requisitioning supplies and equipment, on-call responsibilities, and monitoring the Desigo software system.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of one year vocational/technical maintenance related training, plus a minimum of one year experience in maintenance work, electrical work, plumbing, mechanical repair, heating, and air conditioner.

Knowledge of commonly accepted methods and practices related to electricity, building construction and plumbing is required, as well as demonstrated ability to perform routine maintenance and repair procedures related to electricity, building construction and plumbing.

Basic, everyday living skills are needed, as is the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions (work assignments). Reading, writing, adding, and subtracting is needed. A valid Wisconsin Driver's license is required.
