Maintenance Technician / Painter

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician supports the operation, maintenance, and repair of school facilities. This role collaborates with skilled tradesmen to ensure buildings and systems are safe, functional, and well-maintained. Additionally, this position performs painting and surface finishing tasks.

About the Role

This role works under the direction of the Director of Facilities and in collaboration with skilled tradesmen (electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and carpenters).

Responsibilities

• Maintain tools and workspaces
• Follow safety procedures and OSHA standards
• Collaborate with facilities and school staff
• Respond to work orders and troubleshoot facility issues
• Assist in construction, renovation, and repair projects
• Perform snow removal activities
• Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces
• Complete touch-ups and minor repairs
• Ensure quality and safety standards
• Dispose of all paints, stains, and coatings in compliance with regulations
• Follow established procurement procedures
• Perform other related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a vocational training program in construction, painting, or a related field is preferred
• Previous experience in painting, general labor, and building trades is desirable
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license with a clean driving record
