Maintenance Technician - Night shift Weekend Crew (GAL)

About the role

The Maintenance Technician works independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. You will troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness while supporting the company’s policies, goals, and objectives.

Schedule

This is a night shift weekend crew position with 12-hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Shift hours are from 6:00 pm to 6:30 am, starting Thursday night at 6:00 pm and ending Sunday morning at 6:30 am.

Responsibilities

• Repairs or replaces control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, push-buttons, contactors, and motor starters as needed
• Performs work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments
• Fabricates and modifies new and existing equipment as needed
• Participates in plant safety, health, and environmental programs
• Develops, prepares, and presents recommendations and reports as requested
• Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed
• Completes surveillance routes, filter changes, lubrication, and preventive maintenance tasks on plant equipment and machinery such as mills, lathes, grinders, conveyors, coolant systems, dust collectors, and pumps
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
• Maintains accurate records of test results and provides reports of results to the Lead Technician
• Repairs and maintains plant machinery and equipment such as generators, electric motors, air compressors, aircraft tugs, hydraulic equipment, and pumps
• Repairs or replaces bearings, filters, coolant, screens, etc., as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate a plus
• At least five years of experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and basic electrical repair
• Able to read and interpret documents and drawings
• Able to write detailed repair reports
• Good mathematical skills, including basic algebra, to calculate electrical/electronic equations as needed
• Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software and the ability to learn maintenance software for data input and parts research
• Able to stand, walk, reach above shoulder, climb, crawl, squat or kneel, and bend constantly; able to sit, handle/finger, and reach outward frequently
