Maintenance Technician - Night Shift

This position is based at our Hampton Farms location in Lubbock, TX.

About the Role

The Shift Utility will work closely with the Management Team and be responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of the Machine Operations. This position is responsible for evaluating and maintaining the quality standards and systems as set forth by the customer and by the company. This role will require effective and timely communication with the team and department managers. This role is focused on ensuring a smooth and efficient production flow by accounting for staffing and processing needs.

Schedule

• Rotating 12-hour shift schedule: 5 PM - 5 AM (3-4 times per week)
• Open and flexible to occasional fluctuating/flexing hours based on business need and customer order shipment scheduling

Pay

Starting pay: $25 per hour plus a $2 per hour shift differential.

Responsibilities

• Work assigned shift in our peanut roasting, peanut butter producing, and packaging facilities (food manufacturing environment)
• Work with minimal oversight and follow directions closely
• Operate designated machinery in the facility according to training provided; troubleshoot equipment and perform changeovers as required
• Fill in as coverage for every position within our production line, including for operators off shift or on breaks
• Operate NetSuite system for:
  • Bin transfers
  • Work order completions/creations
  • Checking inventory levels (pack storage)
  • Tagging of materials
• Participate in product/line changeovers
• Assist with paperwork and documentation
• Assist with training of new operators
• Enforce GMP and PPE requirements
• Identify and initiate continuous improvement suggestions on the production floor
• Perform physical tasks including:
  • Lifting bags and/or boxes weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Moving drums weighing up to 500 lbs utilizing a specialized hand cart
  • Standing for multiple hours
  • Traveling up and down stairs and crossovers
• Perform any other duties requested by supervisors/managers, even if outside typical position responsibilities
• Maintain a sanitary work environment that promotes employee cleanliness and meets all regulatory requirements
• Work in all areas of the plant(s) to maintain areas in accordance with Master Sanitation Schedules
• Clean and sanitize using verified chemicals within the plant

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Must be willing to work in production and manufacturing environments
• Must be able to successfully complete E-Verify, background check, and drug screen
• Manufacturing experience is strongly desired
• Food manufacturing experience and GMP knowledge is ideal
• Forklift experience is a plus
• Prior leadership experience is a plus

Work Environment

A food manufacturing atmosphere that requires employees to work in a production/plant environment where physical hazards such as industrial equipment and forklifts may be present. While this position is primarily indoors, the production floor can vary in temperature during winter and summer months or due to ambient heat from equipment.
