Maintenance Technician, Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Responsibilities

• Prepares reports, forms and documents; enters data in the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure required reporting occurs so that students receive emergency services as needed.
• Follows all required safety protocols, including proper use of PPE.
• Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness or emotional trauma.
• Performs interior and exterior center janitorial, building maintenance and groundskeeping assignments according to work orders.
• Performs skilled work in one or more areas of plumbing, heating, carpentry and other trade areas as needed.
• Performs carpentry work: repairs or replaces doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing, painting and any other work pertaining to wood structures.
• Performs plumbing, heating and air-conditioning work: repairs or replaces furnaces, ductwork, air conditioners, piping, instrument controls, wash basins, toilet facilities and any other work pertaining to HVAC and plumbing.
• Performs electrical work: repairs and replaces fluorescent fixtures, control switches, disconnecting wiring and any other work pertaining to electrical facilities.
• Performs minor construction such as building storage bins, stockroom shelves, counters, workbenches, etc.; uses precision hand tools and power tools.
• May transport students by bus and automobile; may drive trucks and other vehicles including PIVs (Powered Industrial Vehicles).
• Directs the work activities of general maintenance personnel.
• Attends required staff training sessions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent and three years’ experience in the respective fields of electrical, heating, refrigeration, mechanical and carpentry work.
• Preferred: Certificate of completion from a building trades training program or apprenticeship program; extensive experience in the building trades.

Knowledge & Skills

• Must possess a valid state driver’s license; ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license if required.
• Ability to operate power and hand tools.
• Sound working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, building maintenance and construction fields.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently: Sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, driving.
• Occasionally: Standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, flexibility.
• Seldom: Climbing, lifting 50 pounds, carrying, kneeling, pushing/pulling, running.

Environmental Demands

• Equipment: Ability to operate office equipment.
• Work Alone: Occasionally works alone.
• Work With Others: 85% of time spent working and interacting with team and other departments.
• Reading/Writing: Ability to read and write at a high school level.

Pay

$30.43 per hour
