About the role
The Weidmann Group of companies seeks a skilled Machinist with strong manual lathe and manual mill experience to support maintenance and equipment repair in our manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes and manual mills to machine and repair parts
- Machine shafts, bushings, housings, and custom components
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Support equipment repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
- Repair and maintain pumps, gearboxes, motors, and mechanical systems
- Perform fabrication and welding (MIG/TIG preferred)
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings
- Work closely with Maintenance and Production to resolve equipment issues
- Install, repair, and maintain industrial machinery including pumps, gearboxes, and mechanical drives
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, replace components, and work with 480V 3-phase systems
- Perform preventive maintenance and follow blueprints and schematics to ensure safe, reliable equipment operation
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, or equivalent experience (e.g., Skilled Trades programs or military experience)
- 8+ years as an Industrial Electrician or Mechanic with relevant certifications (Journeyman, state/provincial license, or technical degree) preferred
- Strong hands-on experience with manual machining (manual lathe and mill)
- Experience in industrial maintenance, machining, or mechanical repair
- Proficient with PLC and VFD programming preferred
- Experience in laser aligning motor couplings (both offset and angularity) preferred
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, meters, and mechanical service tools
- Able to lift up to 100 lbs
- Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate, train others, and support operational goals
