Maintenance Technician (Maker's Rise)

About the role

The Maintenance Technician at Van Metre is responsible for general maintenance, repairs, and resident service requests at the Maker's Rise Apartments in Herndon, VA. This role reports to the Property Manager and Service Manager.

Responsibilities

• Aid the Service Manager in managing all maintenance aspects of the community
• Schedule and perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and janitorial services
• Perform general repair work on property grounds, apartments, and building exteriors
• Assist with maintenance of storage areas and maintenance materials
• Handle turnover work for vacant units
• Walk the property daily to maintain curb appeal and address safety issues
• Notify Service Manager and Property Manager of safety or liability concerns and preventive maintenance needs
• Maintain accurate records of all tasks completed
• Manage inventory and storage areas, and purchase necessary maintenance materials
• Ensure work areas are clean and perform safety-related duties
• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• Respond promptly to resident service requests
• Provide excellent customer service
• Support after-hours emergency requests and property coverage

Requirements

• Professional and courteous demeanor with residents, visitors, contractors, and colleagues
• Necessary skills to complete tasks such as appliance, electrical, and plumbing repair
• Strong understanding of HVAC and electrical circuitry
• Current OSHA, building, and safety standards knowledge
• Own basic tools and know how to safely use and maintain them
• Valid drivers' license

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of maintenance experience or valid training
• HVAC Certification preferred
• Basic knowledge of HVAC and electrical circuitry
• Current on OSHA, building, and safety standards
• Own basic tools and be knowledgeable and skilled in their safe use and maintenance
• Valid drivers' license

Pay

The salary range for this position is $25.00-$27.00 per hour, with pay commensurate with experience, education, training, and skills.

Schedule

Weekend work is required.
