About the role
At DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas, our mission is to provide quality, affordable housing and access to supportive resources across the region. As the lead maintenance technician, you play an important role in helping us fulfill this mission by ensuring that DHA’s rental properties are safe and well-maintained for our residents.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair DHA’s inventory of rental housing properties.
- Repair or replace hardware, cabinets, light fixtures, baseboards, molding and appliances.
- Repair or replace doors, windows, window blinds and shades, locks, flooring, roofing and pipe systems.
- Install, repair and maintain plumbing fixtures.
- Perform routine HVAC maintenance such as replacing air filters and maintaining air vents and thermostats.
- Replace electrical switches, circuit breakers, outlets, light fixtures and electrical appliances under the supervision of DHA’s master electrician.
- Repair and maintain recreational and playground equipment.
- Prepare vacant housing units for occupancy, including cleaning, interior painting and general maintenance.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and system issues.
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies, parts and equipment.
- Monitor, organize and coordinate maintenance staff duties, ensuring productivity and efficiency.
- Develop staff skills, evaluate performance and communicate recommendations to the supervisor.
- Provide excellent customer care.
Knowledge and Skills for Success
- Knowledge of DHA policies and procedures.
- Experience in the use of hand tools, work aids and equipment to complete the required tasks.
- Knowledge of materials, procedures and methods used to perform general maintenance according to industry standards and safety protocols.
- Skill in assessing and coaching staff, and making recommendations to the supervisor.
- The ability to organize and plan the sequence of tasks necessary to complete job assignments effectively.
- Experience in reading and understanding MSDS and other related material.
- The ability to identify and evaluate supply and equipment needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of people and resolve conflict.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical vocational program
- Three (3) years of building maintenance, plumbing and cleaning experience
- One (1) year of supervisory experience
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Texas driver’s license

Pay
Competitive salary with bonus incentives up to $2,000:
- $500 – First paycheck after hire
- $500 – After 90-day probation period
- $500 – After 6 months of satisfactory employment
- $500 – After 12 months of satisfactory employment
