About the role
The Maintenance Technician is integral to meeting the mission of Balfour Beatty Communities, which is to deliver quality communities where residents are proud to call home. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance tasks, managing inventory, coordinating contractor activities, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities
- Oversees one or more assets and supervises general maintenance engineers and technicians.
- Supervises general maintenance and orderliness of property, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, utilities, and lighting systems.
- Performs inspections and repairs as needed.
- Directs mechanics, technicians, and outside contractors on assigned projects.
- Controls inventory of parts and equipment.
- Covers shifts to ensure 24/7 maintenance coverage.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience with EPA 608 Universal certification, or 4 years’ experience with approved designations or degrees/licenses/certifications in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliance Repair, or Carpentry.
- Experience diagnosing problems and implementing repairs.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Advanced knowledge in at least one of the following disciplines: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry.
- Ability to train on skill trades.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to provide guidance and training to less senior technicians.
- Strong customer service skills.
Qualifications
- Completed required training for Maintenance Tech III within 15 months of hire/promotion date.
- Valid, state-issued driver’s license with a safe driving record.
