About the role

The Maintenance Technician II works independently on preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance for the building, building support systems, and membership program equipment. This role also includes custodial and grounds-keeping tasks to maintain a clean and pleasing appearance of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance for the building, its support systems, and program equipment.
  • Operate and maintain swimming and hydrotherapy pools at functioning levels.
  • Operate and maintain heating and air conditioning systems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance repairs as needed.
  • Maintain product inventory listings and Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Ensure the YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

Requirements

  • Five years’ experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, or other specialty skill areas.
  • Demonstrated excellent skills and the ability to work independently and provide leadership on specific tasks.
  • Intermediate understanding of buildings and the operation and maintenance of building systems.
  • Knowledge of safe and correct operation of equipment, procedures, and techniques to perform required tasks.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including the upkeep and care of equipment.
  • Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
  • Knowledge of pool maintenance and operation, safety regulations, and possession of (or ability to obtain) a pool operator’s certification.
  • Demonstrated skills in organization, time management, and coordination of workload.
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day, and other required training.
  • Must pass background and reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

Vocational/Technical certifications preferred.

Pay

$22.91 to $35.37 per hour (most new hires start between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range).

Schedule

Full-time, hourly, on-site position.
