Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Perform repairs on machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
- Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
- Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
- Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or suppliers.
- Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
- Install equipment to improve the energy or operational efficiency of residential or commercial buildings.
- Provide grounds keeping services, such as landscaping.
- Assist other departments as necessary.
- Follow all safety regulations at all work areas and job sites.
- Represent Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. in a professional, respectful, honest, and courteous manner with customers and co-workers.
- Meet professional levels of quality and quantity of work.
- Work productively in teams as well as individually.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Trade school graduate preferred.
- Minimum two years of responsible maintenance experience required.
- Working knowledge of basic electrical systems.
- Basic electrical, carpentry, painting, landscaping, and general construction skills.
- Ability to read and understand Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. Employee Handbook, safety plans, safety training, and SDS sheets.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
- Basic math skills; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring devices.
