Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Perform repairs on machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
  • Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
  • Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or suppliers.
  • Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
  • Install equipment to improve the energy or operational efficiency of residential or commercial buildings.
  • Provide grounds keeping services, such as landscaping.
  • Assist other departments as necessary.
  • Follow all safety regulations at all work areas and job sites.
  • Represent Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. in a professional, respectful, honest, and courteous manner with customers and co-workers.
  • Meet professional levels of quality and quantity of work.
  • Work productively in teams as well as individually.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Trade school graduate preferred.
  • Minimum two years of responsible maintenance experience required.
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical systems.
  • Basic electrical, carpentry, painting, landscaping, and general construction skills.
  • Ability to read and understand Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. Employee Handbook, safety plans, safety training, and SDS sheets.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Basic math skills; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring devices.
