About the role

Join Dal-Tile, the largest manufacturer of tile and natural stone in the United States and a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries. As a Maintenance Technician II, you will perform complex mechanical duties and a variety of electrical trade functions, including the installation, maintenance, repair, and distribution of electrical energy in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) using handheld devices or laptops.
  • Design and redesign programs and software for PLCs, operator panels, and related systems.
  • Format hard drives and install computer setups and PC applications.
  • Install, maintain, or repair equipment for generating, distributing, or utilizing electrical energy.
  • Locate and diagnose issues in electrical systems or equipment using blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Perform standard computations related to load requirements of wiring and electrical equipment.
  • Apply basic knowledge of serial port communication systems, VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives), and process control instrumentation devices (e.g., thermocouples, pressure switches).
  • Work with servomotors and drive units.
  • Continuously review assigned areas for ideas to drive productivity and reduce costs, and present improvement solutions professionally.
  • Plan, submit, and execute process improvements.
  • Use a variety of electrician’s tools, including measuring and testing instruments.
  • Inform supervisors of equipment operational status and report problem areas.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical code.
  • Formal PLC training preferred.
  • Associate degree in industrial electronics preferred.
  • 3 or more years of industrial electro-mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office).

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • May be required to sit, climb, or balance occasionally.
  • May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • May be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
  • Noise level is usually loud.
  • Routinely works at heights requiring fall protection.
