Maintenance Technician II

About the role

The Maintenance Technician II at Kentucky Performing Arts (KPA) plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the venue's machinery and facilities. This position involves repairing and maintaining various assets and equipment, including plumbing, chillers, boilers, pumps, air handlers, cooling towers, and HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assists with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, lubricating, and cleaning equipment as scheduled.
• Operates various tools and machines for repair and maintenance work.
• Maintains tools and equipment in good condition.
• Cleans and vacuums theaters and support spaces before events.
• Uses a cutting torch and undergoes training in different welding techniques.
• Affirms compliance with safety practices and follows relevant codes and requirements.
• Purchases tools, equipment, and materials as needed.
• Operates a light truck to transport equipment and supplies.
• Maintains equipment and performs preventative maintenance.
• Maintains Building Automation System (BAS) to ensure comfort control.
• Attends meetings and trainings to stay updated on industry knowledge.
• Executes work order requests and orders parts through the CMMS system.
• Performs various refrigeration, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical repairs.
• Fulfills necessary certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and AED.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid USA driver’s license.
• 5 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of automated HVAC, electric, and plumbing systems.
• Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods, and techniques.
• EPA Universal Certificate preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities including close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Skills

• Skilled in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Proficient in operating various tools and machines.
• Knowledgeable in trade tools, equipment, materials, methods, and techniques.
• Understanding of EPA Universal Certificate requirements.

Pay

Starting Pay: up to $30/hr

Schedule

This position is subject to long, irregular hours and weekends as dictated by KPA event schedules and projects.
