Maintenance Technician II
This position provides maintenance on machinery, both preventive and repair, on all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to company policies and procedures. The role includes making repairs or adjustments to machinery and equipment to optimize packaging, quality, and performance, as well as maintaining and troubleshooting facility-related equipment such as boilers, chillers, air compressors, and air handling systems.
About the Role
This is a night shift position from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Maintenance Technicians are responsible for keeping machinery and the facility running to maintain continuous production flow with minimal downtime while ensuring a safe work environment. Level 2 Technicians are proficient in at least 2, and up to 5, of the following core skill areas, as determined by skills testing or successful completion of training courses:
- Maintenance Fundamentals
- Mechanical Concepts
- Electrical Power
- Electrical Controls
- Pneumatics
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
Responsibilities
- Install, relocate, troubleshoot, repair, and routinely set up assigned equipment, either directly or by assisting others.
- Perform daily preventive and repair maintenance on facility and manufacturing equipment, completing all associated paperwork in a timely manner.
- Monitor and adjust machinery and facility equipment to achieve maximum accuracy and efficiency.
- Convert machinery to accommodate changes in products or packaging materials.
- Operate machinery as required and verify the adequacy of repairs by testing newly repaired equipment.
- Identify parts or machines needing replacement and coordinate with personnel to obtain necessary materials.
- Work alone or with other technicians/trades to accomplish assigned tasks, including dismantling, repairing, and reassembling complex equipment.
- Respond to mechanical/electrical issues with manufacturing and facility equipment as requested by manufacturing teams.
- Follow Standard Work, company policies, SOPs, cGMPs, and regulatory requirements.
- Interpret equipment drawings to properly adjust, maintain, or repair machinery and facility-related equipment.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet jacks, man lifts, and work on ladders, scaffolds, or other elevated platforms.
- Review pass-downs from the previous shift, start line production promptly, and shut down machinery at the end of the shift.
- Maintain serviceability and accountability of assigned tools and clean the work area after completing projects.
- Uphold 5S standards throughout the plant.
- Complete all required coursework/training and paperwork, including cGMP documentation using good documentation practices.
- Perform all other duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor/Leader.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 5 years of equipment and facility maintenance experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or commercial environment.
- 2-year technical degree in Industrial Maintenance or a related field, plus 2 years of industrial maintenance experience with manufacturing/packaging equipment (preferred).
Skills
- Mechanical inclination with a willingness to perform mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic tasks.
- Ability to interpret mechanical data from blueprints, schematics, wiring, plumbing diagrams, and other mechanical trades documents.
- Familiarity with maintenance and repair of machinery, including knowledge of LOTO and OSHA safety requirements.
- Working knowledge and troubleshooting skills for motor/drive assembly mechanical functions and systems (e.g., oil changes, gears, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems).
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments (e.g., drills, drivers, calipers, micrometers, multimeters).
- Intermediate welding skills (a plus).
- Proficient computer skills using MS Office and Outlook.
- Willingness to complete coursework for skill upgrades and demonstrate hands-on abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and promote a team atmosphere.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
