About the role

The Maintenance Technician II ensures all equipment runs smoothly through regular planned maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment. This role involves addressing urgent issues independently or as part of a team, working in a developing capacity with increased responsibility for a range of maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all required safe working practices, including wearing PPE, lockout-tagout, confined space entry, chemical handling, and working at height.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing planned and unplanned maintenance on production, packaging, processing equipment, and facilities, including equipment and line changeovers.
  • Immediately report any food safety and food quality-related issues to management.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
  • Assist higher-level technicians in troubleshooting and testing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics and technical drawings.
  • Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other equipment as required.
  • Operate production-related equipment as needed.
  • Work independently and with team members to complete repairs safely and in a timely manner.
  • Complete required daily paperwork, document parts and material usage.
  • Complete work orders and preventative maintenance tasks on time, maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Communicate across shifts, departments, and management regarding challenges and opportunities on production lines.
  • Follow quality and food safety standards, including GMPs, allergen control, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
  • Document the presence of visitors, contractors, and customers to maintain compliance with manufacturing practices.
  • Report all food safety and quality issues to management immediately.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of experience in a food and beverage manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and bend for the entire shift.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must provide own hand tools.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and read blueprints and schematics.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.

Skills

  • Knowledge of sanitary pipes, fittings, and valves.
  • Knowledge of packaging and tape machines.
  • Knowledge of Fluid Power – pneumatic, hydraulic, pumps, valves.
  • Knowledge of Power Transmission – gears, sprockets, chains, pulleys.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), sensors (photo eyes, level, pressure, flow).
  • Experience with beverage processing equipment: brewing, extraction, admix, filling (rotary fillers, bag filling, form-fill-seal).
  • Experience with manufacturing lines and changeovers: bottling, bags, pails, totes.
  • Experience with HVAC, including boilers, chillers, and air compressors.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours during peak periods or critical operations.
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills to meet job performance and safety standards.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, and using hands for detailed tasks.
  • Capable of safely lifting up to 50 pounds frequently; ability to handle heavier items with proper lifting equipment or team assistance.

Work Environment

  • Dynamic manufacturing environment with exposure to odors, dust, moderate noise levels, and temperature/ventilation fluctuations.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, hairnets, uniforms, and face shields.
  • Ability to work in elevated positions up to 50 feet using proper safety precautions.
  • Ability to work in limited or cramped spaces and extend arms into machinery for inspection, cleaning, or maintenance while following safety protocols.

Pay

$24.00 - $28.00 per hour
