About the Role

This position reports to the VP of Operations and involves performing advanced maintenance activities on company machines, equipment, and facilities. The role includes maintaining and repairing a wide range of machinery such as lasers, robot welding machines, CNC equipment, shears, tube benders, break presses, plasma cutters, RF welding machines, and beam manufacturing equipment. Additionally, the role supports general maintenance, grounds, and facility upkeep, including parking lots.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular scheduled maintenance on systems, machines, and equipment as assigned.
  • Repair broken, damaged, or malfunctioning machines, equipment, and systems.
  • Become an expert on maintaining, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on advanced machines and equipment in the Beam and Weld buildings.
  • Maintain all lasers, robot welding machines, tube benders, plasma cutters, break presses, shears, CNC, RF welding machines, and beam manufacturing equipment, regardless of complexity.
  • Collaborate with company technicians to complete repairs or resolve issues on unfamiliar machinery.
  • Lead machine tool repairs, rebuilds, or other maintenance work to ensure quality operations.
  • Lead special maintenance or repair projects as assigned.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines and equipment.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and adjust machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Calibrate tools, equipment, and machines as directed.
  • Install new equipment, machines, or systems and modify facilities, equipment, or systems as needed.
  • Assist with general, ground, and facility maintenance as directed by management.
  • Partner with production team members to assess technical situations and determine the best repair options.
  • Stay updated on current maintenance and mechanical repair technologies.
  • Assist outside maintenance contractors and external resources as assigned.
  • Provide technical leadership and assist in training Maintenance Apprentices and Maintenance Technician I.
  • Serve as a backup for the Maintenance Manager during absences.
  • Complete work orders, records, logs, fix-it tickets, and other safety documents via Site Docs Safety Compliance site.
  • Adhere to all safety and OSHA regulations and policies.
  • Operate material handling equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems with machinery or equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Follow Lock Out Tag Out policies and procedures.
  • Work overtime, off-shifts, weekends, and be on-call as needed for maintenance situations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and blueprint reading experience.
  • Technical understanding of equipment maintenance and experience with power and hand tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including off-shifts and weekends, to handle maintenance situations.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Forklift, combi, and Ariel lift license.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, procedure manuals, schematics, and write routine reports or correspondence.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle stress effectively.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble mechanical and electrical devices.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a related field from a technical or 4-year college (preferred).
  • At least 2-5 years of experience in maintenance.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, safety manuals, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to write reports or correspondence and present information effectively.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions.
  • Ability to use a tape measure accurately.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands or arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Moderate to loud noise levels, particularly in warehouse and production areas; lower noise levels in office environments.
  • Exposure to dusty, dirty, hot, or cold environments, both indoors and outdoors.
